How your piece gets made
Ordering jewellery that doesn’t exist yet can feel uncertain, especially the first time. This page explains exactly how it works — what you send us, what you approve, what it costs and when, and what arrives at the end.
If anything here isn’t clear, ask. We’d rather answer a question than have you guess.
It starts with a photo or an idea
Most people begin by sending us a photo — something they’ve seen online, in a shop, or a piece a relative owns. Others send a rough sketch, or simply describe what they want.
You don’t need to know the technical details. You don’t need to know the weight, the stone sizes, or what it should cost. That’s our job. Tell us what you like, roughly what you want to spend, and when you need it.
If you already own gold or a stone you’d like used — an old piece you no longer wear, or a stone from the family — tell us at this stage. It’s often possible to use it.
You see it before it’s made
We take your idea and work it into a proper design, suggesting changes where something won’t sit well or wear comfortably.
For detailed pieces we prepare a 3D preview — a computer-made image, sometimes called CAD, that shows exactly how the finished piece will look from every angle. You can ask for changes at this stage: a different stone shape, a wider band, a lighter design.
Nothing goes into production until you’ve seen the design and said yes to it.
You’ll know the cost before we start
Once the design is settled, you get a written estimate covering gold, stones, making charges and certification.
Two things worth knowing honestly:
Gold is priced by weight, and a small amount is lost during making — this is normal in all jewellery and applies wherever you buy. We tell you how it’s calculated rather than leaving it to the final bill.
An advance is required before work begins, because materials have to be bought upfront. How much depends on the piece — larger, material-heavy orders need more. The exact amount is set out in your estimate, before you commit to anything.
Who actually makes it
We don’t make jewellery in a factory and we don’t outsource to whoever is cheapest.
Materials are sourced through suppliers this family has worked with for years, and the pieces are made by goldsmiths we know personally and deal with directly. That relationship is why we can take on detailed work — Kundan, antique, temple, meenakari, Polki — rather than only simple designs.
Proof of what you’ve bought
Gold pieces carry BIS hallmarking. That’s the Government of India standard, stamped on the piece, confirming its purity — 22K or 18K as ordered.
Diamonds come with IGI certification, an independent report grading the stone’s cut, colour, clarity and carat weight.
Both apply as relevant to what you’ve ordered, and both come to you with the piece, along with the invoice.
How long it takes
Every piece is different, so we give you a timeline with your estimate rather than a standard promise.
What affects it: how detailed the design is, whether stones need sourcing to a particular specification, the goldsmith’s current workload, and certification.
You’ll get a timeline in writing along with your estimate, so you know the date before you commit. If you’re ordering for a wedding or a function, tell us the date at the start. We plan backwards from it and will say honestly if it can’t be done in time.
Frequently asked questions
Can I use my old gold?
Often, yes. Send us photos of the piece and we’ll tell you what’s possible.
Do I have to visit you?
Most of the conversation happens on WhatsApp. We meet by appointment when it helps — usually to see designs or hand over the finished piece.
Can I change my mind about the design?
Yes, while it’s still a design. Once production has started, changes get difficult and may cost more.
Is custom more expensive than buying from a shop?
Not necessarily. We don’t run a showroom or hold stock, so there’s less overhead built into the price. What you’re paying for is the design and the making, not the shop floor.
Do you make small pieces, or only large ones?
